Felix M. Herrera Sr.-a.k.a Flex FiLAiR

My name is Felix M. Herrera Sr, born in Brooklyn New York, and I now reside in Kissimmee Florida.

During my school years through elementary, Junior High and High School I’ve taken many art classes available to me, because I knew I had a passion for the arts.

I was introduced to the airbrush in 1985; However, at the time I was more focused on my dancing skills, which was the era of Break Dancing and went by the name of B-boy Flexy-FiL. After leaving High School I never gave the airbrush much thought, until 4 years later with the inspiration of another great artist, which triggered the passion once again. So, I taught myself how to use the airbrush with videos and magazines.

In 1989 I purchased my first airbrush, which I had no clue what I was purchasing, only that it was an airbrush. Once I began how to use it, I never looked back because I knew this was something I was going to do for as long as I'm allowed to, and I'm glad I made that decision.

I enjoy using different brands of airbrushes because of the versatilities they provide within the selection of brushes the market has now a days

I enjoy painting on different type of substrates; However, I recently focused on fine tuning my style and creating more detailed pieces of art on canvas.

I enjoy the different styles and diverse artist around the world, which brings our airbrush community together; It’s just awesome.

I’ve loved the airbrush medium, and really enjoy painting portraits, but I will step out of my comfort zone to try new things. I enjoy painting in color for specific projects; However, monochromatic (black and white) is one of my favorite things to paint.

Even with years of experience I believe there’s always room to improve, and if there’s someone who’s just starting out, I enjoy helping them out in some way, and that’s what keeps me inspired.
